Where To Stay in Saint Vincent: Best Hotels on the Island

Saint Vincent is the largest and northernmost island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean. It has an active volcano, green and lush landscapes, and stunning aqua water.

There is a limited selection of hotels in Saint Vincent, with most of the accommodations being on the southern coast between the airport and the capital. Of the few hotels in Saint Vincent, most are lovely boutique hotels on the water just steps from the beaches and aqua blue water.

We stayed at the Mariners Hotel and it was perfect for our trip. If you’re visiting Saint Vincent and want to stay at a nice hotel in a great location with sea views, a good on-site restaurant, and proximity to the beach, then look no further than Mariners Hotel!

If you want to browse around a bit more before booking your hotel in Saint Vincent, I’ve included the best ones below.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have been impacted by Hurricane Beryl. It may not be possible to visit some of the Grenadines until the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Mariners Hotel in Saint Vincent

Our stay at Mariners Hotel was just for two nights during our trip to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It was the first and last accommodation, bookmarking our week of island hopping through the country.

Mariners is a four-star hotel with just a few rooms, an on-site restaurant/bar, and a pool, located right on the beach. It’s in Calliaqua, which is a great location between the port in Kingstown and the airport.

Rooms at Mariners Hotel

Most, if not all, the rooms have sea views, but just a couple of them have balconies. We stayed in one with a balcony and another without — both were lovely but you can’t beat a cup of tea at sunrise on the balcony.

The rooms were clean and had comfy beds/pillows, which is really all we needed! The A/C worked well in both the rooms we stayed in and kept us cool throughout the night. The bathrooms and showers were a bit outdated, but fine for a short stay.

We found that even the really nice hotels, like Mariners Hotel, were slightly run down. This could be due to a lack of resources on the small islands for repairs and upkeep and/or proximity to salt water, which deteriorates things more quickly.

Restaurant at Mariners Hotel

While staying at Mariners Hotel in Saint Vincent, we ate at the on-site restaurant (French Verandah) for multiple meals. They had good food with a decent selection of dishes and incredible views of the beach. Their dishes include both local cuisine and some options that cater to tourists.

The service here was just okay, but that’s how it was at most restaurants in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Almost none of the servers at the restaurants we went to, including at the French Verandah, seemed happy. We learned not to take it personally and continued to be nice and friendly no matter what. We also didn’t mind waiting for meals to come out since we were on Caribbean time!

Best Areas to Stay in Saint Vincent

Saint Vincent looks like a tiny island on a map, though it feels much larger once you’re on it. The original airport was in a more central location on the island but has since closed and the new one is on the southeast coast.

Since the airport moved in the last few years, there are not many accommodations near it yet. While Kingstown is the capital and main town of Saint Vincent, it’s about a 45-minute taxi ride from the airport.

The southwest area of the island is the best region to stay in since it is on the Caribbean Sea side and it has both the airport and the seaport. Most of the hotels are in Arnos Vale and Calliaqua, which are both ideal areas to stay in Saint Vincent.

Hotels in Arnos Vale

Arnos Vale is where many of hotels and accommodations are in Saint Vincent because it’s where the original airport is. Although the airport is no longer in operation, shops and restaurants have taken it over. The new airport, Argyle Airport, is about 20 minutes away by car.

This area has mostly boutique hotels along the coast with just a few rooms and gorgeous sea views. There is a decent amount of restaurants in this area, though all the hotels listed below also have on-site restaurants.

  • Basil at Villa: Another boutique hotel directly next door to Mariners Hotel with a few different room options, including suites with sea views.

  • Sunset Shores Beach Hotel: This is a larger hotel just down the road from Mariners Hotel and Basil at Villa. Most rooms have sea views and the hotel is right on the beach.

  • Stonetrail Villas: A beachfront hotel with rooms featuring stone walls, some with balconies and sea views. This hotel is located along the same road as the hotels listed above.

  • LaVue Boutique Hotel & Beach Club: This luxury hotel is located on the beach at the tip of a small jetty. In addition to multiple on-site restaurants/bars and a cafe, this hotel also has a spa. They even host weddings!

Hotels in Calliaqua

Calliaqua is next to Arnos Vale in the south of Saint Vincent. It’s just south of Arnos Vale and the hotels in this area are also on the coast with views of the sea.

We stayed in Calliaqua, but it was just a 1-minute walk to Arnos Vale since we were on the border between the two towns. Either area is great!

  • Mariners Hotel: A 4-star boutique hotel where we stayed and loved! It’s worth upgrading to a sea-view room because the view from the balcony is stunning.

  • Point Bay Resort: Newer boutique hotel, which opened in 2023. All the rooms have balconies with sea views! There is also a bar on the property.

  • Blue Lagoon Hotel and Marina: 3-star hotel overlooking the Blue Lagoon Bay and marina with a variety of room types and sizes.

Hotels in Kingstown

Kingstown is the capital city of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It has the most activity on the island since it’s the main port and town. Despite the high activity, there are not many hotels for visitors in Kingstown.

  • Grenadine House: 3-star hotel in the heart of Kingstown on a hill overlooking the bay.

St. Vincent All-Inclusive Resorts

While most of the accommodations are smaller hotels with quaint offerings, there are currently two large resorts in Saint Vincent where you can bask in peak luxury. For a trip fit for a celebrity, stay at one of Saint Vincent’s all-inclusive resorts.

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The previous resort in Buccament Bay sat abandoned for years before Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines opened in May 2024. With a sprawling white sand beach, over-water villas, and 11+ on-site restaurants, this all-inclusive resort is the most luxurious place you can stay on the island.

This resort is perfect for people looking for an intimate couples getaway on the aqua Caribbean Sea with the highest level of luxury. Relaxation is the only item on your to-do list when staying at Sandals in Saint Vincent.

While you will be further away from the southwestern tip of the island where most of the activity is on the island, Sandals can arrange a wide variety of activities for you, both on land and in the sea.

It is not the most local experience by a long shot — even the sand on the beach was brought in to cover the darker sand — but it is the most luxurious accommodation on the island.

Young Island

Located on its own private island, across from Mariner’s Hotel in Arnos Vale, Young Island is a luxury resort with all-inclusive packages. Young Island is technically one of the Grenadines, but it is just a 1-minute water taxi from Saint Vincent.

It has a few options of cottages and suites to choose from, most with sea views. A few of the suites even have their own private pool!

Young Island Resort is where Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and the rest of the cast stayed during the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean. The entire island can be rented out by one party, making it a favorite of celebrities for private getaways.

You can see it across the sea in the background of the photos below!
