6 Places to Eat in Maui

My family usually does an annual vacation every year. Most years we go to Hawaii. The majority of Hawaii trips have been to the gorgeous island of Maui!

We stay at Honua Kai which has multiple pools and a view of the beach. A future post may come about Honua Kai!

There are so many great places to eat in Maui and if you've been before, I'm sure you'll see I'm missing some key places. If you have some you think should be added to this post, send me some photos with your description of the place and I'll add it to this list (with credit, of course)!

Here are some of my favorite spots- in no particular order.

1. Farmers Market Maui

3636 Lower Honoapiilani Rd, Lahaina, HI 96761

If your vegan or vegetarian, this is the place for you! Even if you're not, there's plenty of choices here. While it is a mini grocery stored filled with organic (sometimes overpriced) foods, they also have a food bar and an a place to order Acai bowls. The food bar has the best mock-chicken salad I have ever had- great with crackers, thrown into a sandwich, or eaten alone! The acai bowls are my favorite breakfast with nice and gooey local, raw honey. There are tons of options!

They also have an actual Farmers' Market from 7am-11am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

2. Maui Tacos

This is our first stop when we land and are starving, tired, and hungry. There are a few locations around the island, but the one we always go to is in Lahaina. It's in a small, usually empty shopping center and at first glance seems a bit dumpy (as you can see by the photo). The food is incredible. They have a variety of different Mexican dishes and a great salsa bar. Maui Tacos is a MUST. Don't miss out.

3.  Grocery Stores

While this seems like an obvious option for food, the grocery stores have surprisingly good fresh sushi and poke for low prices. I usually grab a couple cartons of poke and another carton of seaweed salad to have as a snack or meal after a day at the beach or by the pool. My whole family even had a full sushi dinner by the pool with sushi from the grocery store- and it was delicious!

4. Leilani's

If you're looking to splurge for one night on a nice dinner and view, Leilani's is the go-to. It is in an outdoor mall situated right on the beach. We go just before sunset and ask for a table with a good ocean view. The sunsets are always beautiful and you can watch the ships out sailing on the water. Make sure you make a reservation in advance- the wait can be long.

5. Duke's Beach House

Duke's is our original favorite. It is right on the property of the condo we stay in and has a gorgeous ocean view. When we first started staying here, we would go to Duke's almost every night. Now that the condos are getting more and more popular, it's difficult to get a same day dinner reservation and impossible to just walk-in. Their food is great, the staff is always so friendly, and it's just a few steps from the beach! We like it because we can always count on it to be a great lunch or dinner and it is just downstairs from our condo!

6. Slappy Cakes

Okay, this place is so much fun, but always has a long wait- I don't believe they take reservations, or maybe we just always forget to make them. Slappy Cakes lets you make your own pancakes. You choose your batter and toppings then they bring it to you in a ketchup-like bottle and you make it on the built-in griddle on the table! Last time we went I wasn't feeling pancakes and ordered a Poke Benedict. OH MY GOD it was incredible. I would eat it everyday if I could. If you can't tell already, Poke is my favorite food and what I look forward to most when going to Hawaii (besides the gorgeous beaches and landscape of course).

Bonus: O'o Farms in Kula, Maui

This farm is filled with gardens planted with fruit, veggies, leafy greens, and all things edible! We got to pick our own food and have it prepared by the chef. I will do a FULL post on this amazing place in the future, but couldn't help but include it in this post!

As I said at the beginning of this post, I know I am missing some key spots! Comment your favorite spots below or email me photos with descriptions and I will add them to this post!

pin in for later!
