15 Best Restaurants in Corfu, Greece (Ocean Views, Delicious Food, & Michelin Stars)

I had no idea how high my standards for a meal would become after eating in Corfu for 10 days. I’ve never been one to travel to a specific place for the food and I can hardly call myself a foodie with all the dishes I don’t eat on a typical restaurant menu.

The only thing I researched about food in Corfu was how vegetarian-friendly it would be – which turned out to be very!

While the food is high quality and delicious, it’s also incredibly low-priced! You’ll never find this quality for this price in California (trust me, I’ve been searching!).

When I first boarded the plane to my stopover location in London, a nice couple sat in the aisle across from me and we started chatting about our final destinations. When I told them mine was “Corfu,” their eyes lit up and they started gushing about the food there.

I asked if they had suggestions about things to do and all they said was, “EAT! Eat everything!”

So we did! And the rest is…well, in this blog post!

Before You Go

One important thing you should know about Corfu (really anywhere in Europe) is that service is not about quickly getting you in and out. Eating a meal is an experience to be enjoyed with the people you’re with!

Plan at least one hour (ideally 2-3) for each sit-down meal.

We enjoyed the slower service as it gave us time to relax, talk about our day, and plan for the next one. Most places typically bring out some bread or something else for you to munch on while you wait, in case you show up to restaurants starving like I do.

Restaurants in Corfu Town

Corfu Town (Old Town Corfu, Corfu Old Town, or Old Corfu Town) is the capital of the island of Corfu. The Old Town of Corfu is a UNESCO world heritage site! It has tons of history and feels like a Venetian village.

There are SO many restaurants to choose from, but because this is a more touristy area, some restaurants cater to tourists – which typically means higher prices and less-tasty food.

Check reviews before getting drawn into a restaurant! Some of the poorly reviewed restaurants had employees outside trying to entice passersby.

Diporto

My first meal in Corfu was a mouthwatering Greek salad in Old Town Corfu. I could not believe how much better it was than any other Greek salad I’ve had. It has nice, airy indoor/outdoor seating inside the tiny restaurant and it felt like eating at someone’s home!

I was still severely jetlagged when we ate here, so the details escape me, but I could never forget how blown my mind was after the first bite of a REAL Greek salad.

σαγράδο (Sagrado)

This restaurant had by-far the most vegan and vegetarian options on the menu! I got the vegan bao, made with mushrooms, and a flavorful beet and arugula salad. I’ve yet to find another restaurant with vegan bao on the menu to satisfy my cravings.

The full menu is tapas style, so order to share! Between the two of us, we ordered three dishes and that was more than enough! It’s also located in a cute alleyway in the maze of Old Town Corfu.

Bizou Cafe

If you’re looking for a brunch spot, this is it! We got the avocado sandwich and Greek roll and both were enjoyable! It’s tucked away in the streets of Old Town Corfu and has a few tables and chairs in the small alleyway.

Favella N°17

We went to Favella Nº17 three times during our trip because we loved it so much. They have a large, unique selection of breakfast, brunch, and lunch stuff!

We saw people getting massive stacks of pancakes with tons of yummy toppings – they have a whole dessert menu with pancakes, waffles souffle, etc. They also have a wide range of drinks from tea to wines to cocktails (I had my first Aperol Spritz here!).

Kumquat

While walking around Corfu Old Town one morning, we stumbled upon Kumquat. I got an avocado toast and it was simple, but great!

It’s closer to the main town area with the more big name shops and crowds, so if you’re downtown shopping, this might be a good place to stop for a quick lunch.

Restaurants in Dassia

Dassia is where we spent about half our time while we were in Corfu. It feels very local and has one main road dotted with restaurants. We tried to go to a different one for each meal, but did go to a couple of them more than once because they were too good to not visit again!

Dassia is also home to Greece’s #1 restaurant, which also happens to be a Michelin star restaurant!

You cannot go wrong with restaurants in this area! While they don’t all have stunning ocean views, the food more than makes up for that. The restaurants right on the beach with ocean views are slightly higher priced since they’re near the hotels/resorts, but also have amazing food!

Castello

This place has the usual dishes you can expect to find at most restaurants in Corfu and is on the main road in Dassia. We ate here a few times during our trip for both lunch and dinner! The service was friendly and professional, and the food was excellent.

This was the first place I tried Sagnaki, which is Greek fried cheese. It’s halloumi (or sometimes feta) served in a cast iron pan with honey, olive oil, and sesame seeds. Delicious! I also had my first Greek beer here!

La Casa

La Casa is also on the main road in Dassia. It has the usual Corfu food and we got takeout from here one night. I got a Greek salad and fries the one time we went, so I can’t personally comment on the other dishes, but I heard they’re fantastic.

Their presentation is lovely and the dishes are all so colorful!

Lucciola Garden

While we only ate here once, I wish we had visited at least once more. The seating is in a lovely courtyard surrounded by trees and greenery, hidden from the street. The tables are spread far apart from each other with adorable chairs.

I got the stuffed mushrooms and sourdough with olive oil/dip starter. There was also a local kitty hanging around that the restaurant “adopted” and I definitely spent some time petting the kitty after we finished eating.

Ta Diktia

On our last night, we decided to go slightly fancier with ocean views. Ta Diktia is near some of the resorts and on the beach. They have a full bar with unique cocktails and incredible food.

I didn’t expect a whole lot from a restaurant in a more touristy area, but I was pleasantly surprised! I got a salmon penne pasta dish and my mouth still waters when I think about it or look at photos.

Etrusco

We unfortunately didn’t eat at Etrusco during our trip. I believe reservations are required and can be booked directly from their website.

It’s the only Michelin star restaurant on the tiny island (as you can imagine) and it has won Greece’s Best Restaurant many years in a row. At the time of writing, it just won the 2022 award!

Akos Farm

Another small, family-owned restaurant along the main road in Dassia is Akos Farm. Just like all other restaurants on this road, it has nice outdoor seating and tasty food!

I got spinach pies and baked feta cheese with roasted tomatoes. They also have pizza, pasta, and even omelets, along with burgers, salads, meat, and lots of other appetizers.

Restaurants in Paleokastritsa

The resorts and more touristy attractions on Corfu are in Paleokastritsa. This doesn’t mean that all restaurants are touristy though!

While there definitely are some poorly rated, overpriced restaurants near the hotels, the best salmon tartare I’ve ever had was in Paleokastritsa.

La Grotta

This does not count as a restaurant, but I couldn’t leave it off the list! It’s absolutely a tourist attraction and the drinks are at tourist prices. We came here because I had it on my list of places to visit because of the cove and diving board, and hadn’t even realized they had a full bar until we got there!

You can get drinks and sit at the tables above while you watch people jump off the diving board into the ocean below!

Flavor

The food here was exceptional! It’s a small restaurant tucked away down a side street and looks very unassuming. I found it while searching for well-reviewed restaurants in the area after a day at La Grotta.

We ended up coming here twice because I couldn’t stop thinking about the food after the first visit. I got the salmon tartare and it was soft, flavorful, and fresh. I even ordered it again the next time we came. The rainbow penne was also surprisingly good for being such a seemingly simple dish.

Plan to spend 2-3 hours here! It takes about an hour or more between the time you order and the time food arrives, but I promise it’s worth it! Hang out, relax, enjoy your time, and know that you’re about to have some of the best food of your life!

Restaurants in Barbati

Barbati is about 15 minutes north of Dassia and we discovered it after driving around just to explore this part of the island. We ended up finding one of our favorite places!

Coffee Lovers

We visited Coffee Lovers three or four times during our trip because of the food, but also because of the owners, Maria and Fiorella! They were so lovely and had just opened Coffee Lovers a few months before we visited in June 2021.

Their food reminds me so much of a nice, coastal Californian cafe with gorgeous presentation and yummy food. During our multiple visits, I had a fancy avocado toast with smoked salmon; a fresh caprese salad; toast with pesto, mushrooms, greens, and tomatoes; and a sweet and refreshing smoothie!

If you visit, please tell Maria and Fiorella you heard about it from me! :)

Restaurants in Sidari

We only spent a half day in this area, but there are so many cute restaurants around here! The whole area has a small beach town vibe, despite a string of hotels near the major tourist attraction: Canal d’Amour.

Katarina’s Taverna

After a long day driving around and swimming through the Canal d’Amour, I searched Google Maps for some well-rated restaurants nearby and found Katarina’s Taverna!

We were the only ones there and ordered way more food than we could finish because we were so hungry after swimming and hiking all day! The menu was slightly different from other restaurants we had been to, which was a nice surprise (not that I could ever get sick of saganaki and Greek salad).

The restaurant had the feeling of being on someone's patio and getting served their homemade meals. I would have loved to come back here if we were in the area again.
