There are two main areas of the island that people often stay – Honolulu/Waikiki and the North Shore. As you can imagine, the North Shore is the Northern end of the island while Waikiki is near the Southern end. Both sides of the island have a lot to offer and the one you choose depends on your personal preference.

I challenged myself to travel carry-on only for this trip, which means it was my first flight without a checked bag. It was pretty miserable traveling through Europe with 3 pieces of luggage – one of those being a giant suitcase – and after that trip I decided I would try to pack carry-on only for all future traveling.
